What damage could this cause if I continue to drive with the TCC stuck open?

What do you mean stuck open? There is a stuck off(p0741), and stuck on(p0742). I would assume that yours is 741 since that is most common. It won't necessarily cause any problems other than a check engine light, and potential reduced fuel economy.
