1996 Cadillac Deville service emissions fault

car ran fine then all the sudden the engine bogged down and it wouldn't accelarate. The engine had a funny sound to it like it was exhausting and the service emissions fault came on the display. Now as soon as you turn the key to the on postion the fault is immediately on the display and when you try to start it, it won't even try to turn over.

You will need to have codes pulled to narrow down the emission problem....

When you say it won't try to turn over... do you mean the engine ratates but won't start?

If the above is true then may be clogged Catylitic Converter. You can remove the O2 sensors that are in front of the cat and try to start it... if starts replace cat....
