I opened my trunk yesterday and it would not close automatically and lock. We replaced the fuse for the trunk lid a few minutes ago and it still won't close automatically. Normally you will hear the sound when it will start to close, but, I don't hear any sound now.
Why won't this lid close manually? Could you please tell me what the promblem is with my trunk lid?
Thank You, Judy

If the pull down motor did not come up when released, it can be hard to latch. There is a paddle type switch at the body side, where the pull down motor is. More often then not, the pull down switch is at fault. Try tapping on the lock side(body) with a screwdriver handle or something and see if the pull down comes up. There are two switches that actually make it function, an ajar switch on the latch(lid), and the pull down switch on the striker(body). You can test the ajar switch by pushing on it's paddle, the compartment light will go out when pressed and come on when released(assuming the light works). You can get the door to close by slamming it in most cases.
