Fig. 13 Oil pump assembly

1.Remove screws securing pump cover to housing, Fig. 13.
2.Remove driveshaft, drive gear and driven gear from housing.
3.Remove oil pressure regulator valve and spring from bore in housing. Inspect regulator for nicks and burrs.
4.Check regulator spring free length. Length should be 2.57 inches. Spring compressed length should be 1.46 inches under 9.3---10.5 pound load.
5.Check pump housing for wear and gears for nicks and burrs.
6.Install drive gear over driveshaft so that retaining ring is inside gear. Place drive gear over pump housing shaft closest to pressure regulator bore.
7.Place driven gear over remaining shaft in pump housing, meshing driven gear with drive gear.
8.Install pressure regulator spring and valve in housing bore.
9.Install pump cover over driveshaft. Install and torque retaining screws to 5 ft. lbs.
