I own a 1991 cadillac brougham. Its been starting and running perfectly fine.I drove it to the store, then back home. Then I headed back out again.I disarmed the car alarm, got inside, put the key in the ignition. The radio and dash lights all came on as normal, but when I put the key in the "start" position, I had NO power, I turned the key back into the "off" position and back into "start", but nothing happened, not even a click. No lights, no radio or no engine start.I hooked up jumper cables, but the car wouldnt start.I let the battery charge for about 10 minutes.I opened the car door and the interior door lights were on, but quickly went off as I tried starting the car again, which made a slight click but never started, then I no longer had any interior door lights either. Someone told me it was the starter, but im thinking its the battery, but I dont know. The battery is "allstate" and its about two years old. Can someone help me solve this problem? Thanks

Hi:
Based on what you said, the battery is done. It most likely shorted out internaly.

If you have any other questions, let me know. And remember, if the battery is only two years old, it should still be under at least a partial warranty.

Joe

I've just recently taken the car to a local shop and gotten it fix. Yes the starter went out, and completely drained! The battery in the process. Cost me about $500.00 with labor. So far so good. Thank you so much for the reply.I'am quite certain that I will have more questions to ask you. Hahahaha.

Thanks Joe!

Hi:
Let me know next time. The price seem a little high, but I don't know where you're located and the going labor rates. As long as it's running good, that is all that matters.

Take care,
Joe

Yeah i'm in Milwaukee Wisconsin and the labor rates here are quite expensive, I assume because our state tax is 5.6%. But yeah next time i'll ask you first, definitely.

Thanks again!
