I'm going thru a lot of oil and have had trouble finding out just where it's been leaking from. The guy who changes my oil said that he thinks it's "from the oil filter housing gasket and/or oil sending unit". He said that it really wasn't a major repair and acted like it was something that I could take care of. Someone else said that I would have to drop the oil pan and that it was a "major repair". I'm almost afraid to go to a garage for fear that I'll be ripped off! Kat

Get it properly checked out for leakage-No leak is an indicartion that oil is being burn in the combustion chamber-could be rings/valve stems, guides and seals-have the engine compression checked-

Thank you for your prompt reply to my question, but the car isn't burning oil. When I said that I'm going thru a lot of oil, I meant going right onto the ground! Another guy told me that there's no sense getting an oil change until the leak is fixed, because it's leaking out so fast that it's changing itself!

Problem areas could be oil pan gasket, front and rear seals, valve cover and oil filter gasket-inspect and then report back-
