Electrical problem
1998 Buick Regal 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 121K miles

The dashboard lights on my 98 Regal do not come on at this time. They used to come on automatically without having to use headlight switch and now even when using switch no illumination on instrument panel. Also experiencing intermittent problem with power windows which work when I open driver door and move wiring harness in between door and main comparetment.

Do have tail lights? The dash lights and tail lights are on the same fuse. If yes on the tail lights, do you have a seperate rotory switch for the dimming of the dash lights, this switch is bad. If the dimming control is on the headlight sw, the HL switch is bad.

I have tail lights and the dimmer adjustment is on the headlight switch. I also checked fuse for dimmer 7.5a and tailights 15a and both are ok. So even though I normally do not have to touch the headlight switch to get the instrument panel lights on(pull out) it may be bad?

Yes, I would change the HL switch. The reostat that controls the dash light dimming is a common part to fail. Also, I forgot to comment on your power window problem. If you open up the sleeve between the body and the driver's door to expose the wiring I'm sure you will see a couple of damaged wires. Make repairs as needed.
