1998 Buick Regal brake shifter interlock seliond

with the engien running and foot on brake will not release from park when i push down on the shifter button there is a clicking noise under dash

Hi loyd119, Thank you for the donation. There are 2 solenoids under the center console and one of them is not working. I would suspect the Park Lock solenoid as the brake induces a clicking noise which should be from the BTSI solenoid. However you would need to check if the solenoid is moving sufficiently to release the lock.
