Right front strut has been an ongoing problem in a car that I love. Local mechanics are stumped, say it's a bad design, too much stress on a small part. I've paid for many small fixes. Is there anything I can do "permanently" to keep my Buick good for, say, another year? Everything else is good on the car.

Thanks very much,
Jamie

What is it doing? I personally havent had any issues with those once a high quality replacement and top plate is installed

It's smacking around in the housing when I go over any kind of bump. You may have hit on the answer, regarding high-quality replacement and top plate.I think the folks I went to were trying to do low-cost fixes.

Can you suggest how much I might expect to pay for a real repair?

Thanks very much for your info

You ar elooking at around 4 hours of labor, the strut top plates are about 40-50 a piece, the strut prices vary depending on how high you want to go, GM will be a fortune, but you should be able to get KYB for a couple hundred each
