1981 buick regal with a freshly rebuilt 3.8 v6 2 barrel with all new or reconditioned internals, brand new oil pump. Car has 76 miles

here it its I recently rebuilt my motor along with my engines teacher and after its completion and installing it into my car I put in a mechanical oil pressure gauge and I worry because when started the gauge shows 60 psi for 1 min and when engine is warm it drops to 10 psi but when I rev the engine the oil pressure will drop below 10 psi and if I continue it would drop to 0 psi

please help I will appreciate anything I can get

I got your PM, I wish I knew more to give you an answer, but I offer this:

Obviously don't run it anymore than if there is a test to perform that would require it. Bootdog would be a good mod to ask-PM him and ask to post a follow up here if he would be so kind.

One thing I would be concerned about is that the parts you bought were correct. Mis-boxing and mis- application can be a real problem. Try to confirm what you can. Did you stay stock, or try to "enhance" the motor? Make sur your gauge is good.

I want to thank-you for sending me a PM as I have learned from this post.

From what I see assuming the parts are correct, is possible Mis-installation of that may be somthing bent getting the pump in, a pressure relief valve that is stuck open or bad oil filter.

Did you ever figure the cause of this? I have exactly the same problem. Low oil pressure on a freshly rebuilt Buick 3.8 V6.

Thanks,

Jeff
