This engine has always been great..last month it started to rev and choke up....i noticed i had some leaks and replaced some gaskets....i was told it might be an air flow sensor.....i have been drivng the car but only when i need to...now when i try to drive it...it stalls and makes a grinding sound

You can clean the MAF sensor with a special cleaner.
It will make engine run rough/rich if it fails.

The grinding is a different situation, check oil for the presence of coolant.
