Is it possible for a defective gas cap to cause the "check engine" light to come on? I have been told that is what is causing it. The engie oil level is at the full mark, the oil is clean, and the oil was changed recently. There are NO noises or other evidence of an oil pressure problem

The gas cap is not the only component that will pop the CEL there others involved. Scan the computer for codes-no code reader or scantool go to autozone have them pull the code/s from the computer to my understanding its a free service.
