In cold weather, my 96 Lesabre has high RPM's until the engine warms up. This can take 10 - 15 minutes. I have a 98 Leasbre that does not do this, and the 96 didn't do this until the last 2 winters. What causes this? Could this be the thernostat?

try disconnecting the battery overnight, rehook the next morning and try to start.

check the engine coolant temp sensor or the intake aire temp sensor they can affect the idle speed.
