Hi everyone, hope some one can help out. Lol Ok so about 3months ago the 1wire to my vats system broke. I called a delership and they told me $600 to fix. Of corse me being kinda hand I told them I would do it for that kinda price! Then tore into the stearing colom fixed the wire and the car started WOOT! Ok so 2 months later car does the same thing running fine then I shut it off and get gas, what do you know it wont start. Get the car back to my house tear it apart again seems the other wire broke. Bought a new lock cylinder that came with new vats system wires and installed it. Had the new keys cut and right rester pelet put in. Everything is fixed right, NO. I am stumped now. I tested the starter its getting power tested the fuel pump also getting power. Thats how I know I put lock cylinder back in right, when vats system wire breaks, your starter and fuel pump dont get power same thing happens when you put wrong key in (GM'S securty system witch they dont install anymore because on your gm's 10th birthday the wires to the vats system start to break) So here I am back to square 1. Anyone who has had this problem and fixed it know what I am up against. I have looked into ignition modualer but thats $200 that I dont wana pay if thats not the problem (as you know auto parts stores wont except electrical parts back that have been installed even if it didnt fix the problem) SO please please help guys and gals thank you for checkn out my post. And as for my ford windstar still running strong cant wait for ford to get there lazy. To recall them switchs lol will check back daily
EDIT just had the ignition control mod checked and its good. Starter has power so thinking that the starter might be bad going to take it off and test it. Still waiting any responses anyone else has any ideas let me know

If you have power at hesmall wire on the starter, but it doesnt turn over the starter is bad. Try turning the engine by hand first, just to be sure it turns.

It ok next time think I will play with car a little more before I post lol. Anyways I didnt turn the car over by hand new that it wasnt froze cause the day I towed it home I tried to start it and it started! Then it didnt start again so I went though every thing tying to find problems the lock cylender needed replaced. Anyways I was chatten with my dad and he reminded me good way to test the starter( you know hit it with a hammer on the older trucks and such) I didnt even think about it lol. So today smacked the starter with a hammer and boom she fires up lmao. Go figure its allways the one thing that is easy to test it just slips your mind. So hope someone reads this that is haven some problems with there buick to save them some time

Thats more of a "get me home" thing than a fx. If you strike it too hard you can damage themagnets in themotor, then it wont work at all

Your right lol just a temp fix to get the car to start so the guy coming to look at it and wanted to know how it ran lol. Sold it about 6 hrs after got it started lol. Of corse he knows that he has to buy new starter. The only reason I hit it was cause he wanted to hear it run but your right if I would have thought about that at the gas station I would have saved my buddies some gas lol. On another not since I hit the starter it had started about 10 times since then. Well thanks for the help pretty sure this forum is over
