2005 Buick La Crosse Replacing Wiper Blades

I can't seem to get the blades to remain in an "up" position in order to replace them. (Out from under the hood).

The manual offers NO assistance, and I can't find anything online about this (everyone starts with the next step).

Any suggestions?
