there is no sensor that "controls" the check engine lamp.. any type of sensor on the vehicle may cause the engine light to appear, but the sensor itself does not control the light, the engine light simply lets you know there is an issue. dpending on what sensor you are replacing, it is very possible for it to cost up to $400
