If the vehicle has not been scanned for codes for the check engine light, I would recommend that you do so. That will tell us what the computer thinks is wrong, and the scanner can actually reset the computer.

You can also remove the battery cables for a few minutes, but I don't like this step as it also clears your clock, radio presets, and all other important info in the computer.
