My buick starts but then dies imediatly. Just removed throttle body base in an attempt to clean and replaced it. It started right up, better response than i've had in a while, but would not idle smoothly, then died after 10-12 seconds. If I start it and floor the gas, it wants to run, but just chugs, then dies when I let off the gas. I, ve been trying to fix it now for several months, but weather and money have kept my efforts to a minimum. I'm now suspecting the idle air control valve, but i'm just guessing. I, d like a second opinion.

That would be a good place to start. I would remove it and clean it. Have you replaced the fuel filter?

Yes, I replaced the gas filter just a few months before it died. Put in new spark plugs and air filter at the same time. When it died, I was pulling into a parking lot, had to feather the gas to keep it going long enough to get it parked. My first thought was that it seemed to run out of gas. But I had 1/4 reading on the gas gauge and put more in from a can to be sure. Since I posted my question, I've removed the idle air control valve and cleaned it, made no difference. Any ides for the next step?

Any chance the gas was contaminated? Did all this happen after the plugs and wires were changed or before?
