1993 Buick Century Fuse blows when AC is turned on

1993 Buick Century 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

The fuse that has eng/AC on it blows when the AC is turned on. It works for a second but it blows the fuse. Please help me.

Do you think it might be the compressor clutch, blowing the fuse? You might be able to take the electrical connector loose from the compressor, then use jumper wires off the battery posts, b+ and ground. Use an inline fuse, the same rating as the one that keeps blowing, in the voltage leg.

If it is a 2 wire connector at the compressor, the terminal for the black wire should be ground, the other should be B+. If you can operate the compressor clutch without blowing the fuse, maybe the problem is elsewhere? The coil side of the cooling fan relay/s receive voltage from the same fuse, but, my first thought was the compressor clutch or wiring circuit.
