Suspension problem
1993 Buick Century 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello. I'm very desperate for any kind of help I can get about my 93 buick century. I discovered a cracked rear suspension trailing arm about a month ago. I'm not sure if that is what its called, but it is a bracket of sorts that connects the rear axle to the unibody below the backseat. The rest of the body is in fairly good condition, but the area around the arm is pretty rusty. I've taken it to local body shops and basically have gotten no answers. Most won't touch it because of the age and the rust. One guy said I could have the arm cut out of a junked vehicle and welded on to my car, but then the rear axle would need re-alligned and it would be fairly pricey. The car has high-miles, but engine & tranny are in good shape and I've put at least a grand in new parts in the past year. I wouldn't mind putting a few hundred more into it. Salvage yards are only offering me peanuts and I don't want to junk the car. It's been in my family for 3 owners and has had routine maintenance and is a good car. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi there, thank you for the donation, check this pic, is it the same as your rear end? if so is it the lower control arm that is cracked? let me know and i will see if theres anything that can be done, but the rust you mentioned is a problem, as i have no idea as to how bad and the exact location. Yes that is exactly it. The control arm is cracked right in the middle and almost completely separated. I don't drive the car anymore but when I was the tire would actually rub off the well around turns or over bumps. The rust is not horrible it is confined to smaller areas. The axle and chassis are in decent shape. Thanks

Hi there, Sorry i have some bad news, the control arm is not a separate item and can not be replaced, you will have to replace the entire rear suspension frame.

Yes I was afraid of this. Don't bother I'll try to get some prices but it's most likely more than I would want to spend. Thanks for all your help bud.
