I have a 1988 Buick Century Wagon. It has 74,743 actual miles on the vehicle. After I drive it for say 20 to 30 minutes I turn it off and when I go to restart it, I have a heck of a time to get the car to go I have to put my foot on the gas and brake to keep it running. The check engine light comes on intermittently, but only at idle, under load after i two foot it for a couple of minutes it seems to run fine.I have replaced the plugs ,wires, gas filter ,air filter, and replaced my exhaust system, changed the oil and the transmission fluid.I am at the end of my rope any assistance would be appreciated.Thank you for your time and help in this matter

I too have an 88 Century.
I'm amazed you did all that stuff to it, and it didn't correct the problem.

I have found that the air intake manifold where the flapper in the top beneath fuel injector (throttle body engine), gets swelled, and doesn't allow for air to pass through all that easily. Therefore I've had to stick a pen-sized metal rod in between the throttle body and the flapper. (move the throttle turning thing on the side with the wires, and stick the pen in there to get it started. I DID use a pen for a while, but then it melted away.
