My wife pulled out of the parking space at work and the brakes went hard. She barely made it to another space and shut down the engine and called me. About 20 mins later, when I arrived, the car would not start? Any ideas? Thanks

The reason the brakes went hard is because the engine died you had no more vacuum to the booster or your power brakes. Have you tried holding your gas pedal all the way to floor while trying to start it?Also those early L model Saturn's with the four cylinder engines for timing chain failures.

Thank you, I tried pumping the gas pedal and its smells like she is getting fuel. Just not starting, maybe an ignition issue, if the chain broke. Wouldn't there be more signs? I was going to ask about the booster, that's located right behind the brake fluid?

The brake booster is right behind the master cylinder it doesn't work with the engine not running. Those timing chains jump time suddenly or break no warning before it happens. Also I asked if you held thegas pedal down all the way to the floor while trying to start it? Pumping the gas pedal isn't going to do anything. Holding it to the floor puts it in clear flood mode which shuts off the fuel injectors and let's fresh air in the engine to dry out excessive fuel if it's flooded.

Check for spark? Then check the actual fuel pressure you have? You could also check for codes in the computer? Basic starting point for a crank no start.
