1997 BMW M3 think one of my belts froze

not sure what happened...just bought the car and realized it was bone dry on oil after it started smoking, but then when i filled it with oil, it started making a screeching noise when i start it up?

Hi there,
remove the drive belt(s) and feel the bearings on all the pulleys for tightness and notchy rotation, the A/C idler is often the best place to start.
