The battery has run down on my 93 740il and I can not get into car. I was told that the drivers door had a manual lock but this does not work. Suggestions?

There is a way to get into the car, from either front door, insert the key, lift the handle, and then turn the key to unlock.
If the drivers door will not open, try the passenger side.
Glad to help out.

Cars built prior to 1991 could be opened through either of the front doors. The 1993 E32 can only be opened via the right front door.

The procedure is simple, insert your key into the right front door lock and turn it in clockwise while lifting the door outside door handle, you will encounter a little resistance but it will open the door.

If you can get to the hood release then do so and charge the battery by using the underhood connections. If not then pull up the rear seat, the battery lives in the right rear corner.

Once you have power to the vehicle you need to synchronize the locks. But that's another question for another day.
