1 Is there anything unique about the formulation of BMW Blue antifreeze/coolant? Is a product such as a Prestone long life/heavy duty etc suitable for aluminum engines components such BMWs going to do as well also ?

In other words am I paying for something unique w BMW coolant that I dont get with other high grade products

2 Is distilled water important to mix w either coolant product and why

Thx

The blue coolant is supposed to be less reactive to metal and gasket material. Most over the counter coolant will do just fine. Distilled water is good because you are not adding dissolved minerals that can build up on the heat exchangers.
