1996 BMW 740 Automatic 85000 miles

This vehicle has been sitting in driveway (not driven) for about two years.

Besides attention to battery & tires & checking oil level, anything else to be done before starting to drive it again?

Thanks.

HI there,

Thank you for the donation,

Remove the spark plugs and squirt some oil into each bore, lit it sit a while then with the plugs out crank over the engine, this will pre lube the rings and bore so there is no problem with a dry start, it will smoke a bit when you do start it up but that will clear up quickly, add some fuel system cleaner change the fuel filter as well, after start up and warm up change the oil & filter, go easy on the brakes on the first drive as they may be a bit sticky, just be on the look out for any fluid leaks after you start driving as often seals will dry out after a long lay off and they may not take up fully again,

Also, fill the tank and as Mark mentioned, add fuel stabilizer. A full tank cant have condensation form inside.

If the plugs are proving hard to get out, can I get away with disconnecting a coil or two & then cranking it a couple of times - could that be another way of lubing the bores?

Thanks
