The 540i I have is a 6 speed manual trans, I believe this picture is of an automatic trans. I cannot find the sensor at this location in my 1998 540i. Help!

If you're looking for a switch/sensor that prevents starting the engine without stepping on the clutch pedal its called Electronic Drive Away Protection Control Unit that's located in the left kick panel-see below
