HI,
THE CAR STARTED RUNNING HOT RIGHT AFTER I PUT CHEAP GAS IN. THEN I FOUND OUT THAT HOSE HAD HOLD IN IT. TO HEAD GASGET TO THREE HEAD GASGET NEED TO BE REPAIR. COST WENT FROM $600.00 DOLLORS TO $1,500. TO REPLACING THREE HEAD GASGETS $2,500.
WHAT HAPPEN? THE CAR WAS JUST INSPECTED TWO WEEK BEFORE, WHY DID THEY NOT FIND THE PROBLEM THEN. I HAVE NEVER HAD A ENGINE PROBLEM BEFORE. IS THE PRICE IN LINE WITH THE SERVICE NEEDED.

Hi there,

Normally an inspection will locate a faulty hose, as they age they will become very hard and brittle or the internal webbing fails and the pressure of the system will cause them to burst, if the hose was so close to failing, this may be an over sight on the part of the mechanic who inspected it, you will just have to take it up with the service department who did the work.

Why were three head gaskets replaced? Was the cylinder head pressure tested? They often crack when overheated. Has the radiator and expansion tank been replaced? If there was a hose failure in the cooling system, I would be concerned about the rest of the cooling system as the radiators in these cars can and do fail at about the age and mileage you report
