Techron ok to add? engine sounds noisier.

1995 BMW 525iT 126,000 mi. 2.5L 6

I just bought this car. It was running fine, except maybe a little hestation accelerating fast onto freeways.

I decided to add Chevron Techron, 1.5 bottles to an empty tank then filling it.

It seems the engine sounds more "whiny" (hopefully I don't) now after using the product. I noticed this almost right away, maybe after 25 miles. It's louder at the same rpms, more high-pitched. Car used to run pretty silently.

Can it be the product had anything to do with this?

I will get an oil change in next few days, as the gas has been refilled, to make sure there's no run-by of the techron into the engine.

Car seems to accelerate a little better now.

Thank you,
lesliem

Run another tank through and let us know if anything changes. I have not heard this before.

Thanks for the quick response.

Should I change the oil and filter before I do another tank of Techron or just go ahead and pour another bottle in at next fill up? Is Techron getting into the engine a noteworthy problem?

The owners manual makes a big deal about not adding anything to the BMW engine/system outside of what the dealer sells.

If big stuff dislodges from the Techron, that could lead to other parts needing to be cleaned, replaced? Guess should have left nearly well enough alone...

Probably ought to change the oil and filter since it is not harmful to do so, please use the recommended lubricant and correct viscosity. Techron additive should not be harmful since Chevron fuel is considered tier one and is recommended for use by BMW in their cars. I doubt that you have done any harm. Keep in touch mate!!!
