Engine problem
1994 BMW 525 Engine Size unknown Front Wheel Drive Automatic 120000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am working on a bmw 525I for a friend and i cant seem to figure out why it wont start. It cranks but wont fire. the fuel pump was checked and seems to be working and the filter is clean and flows fine. I sprayed carb cleaner into the butterfly valve while having another friend crank the engine and it fired for about 2 seconds, I stopped spraying and it died. Can you help me?

There is a fuse for the fuel pump in the E-box under hood on the left side of the car. Also check the fuel pump and the main relay in the E-box on the right side of the car, the main relay is white and has 5 pins the fuel pump relay sits next to it and is green or brown and has 4 pins. The cover on the right side for the relays is secured with 4 Phillips head screws. These are all accessible under the hood in the engine compartment
You state you tested the fuel pump, did you power it directly? Follow the power flow for the fuel pump from the fuse through the fuel pump relay to the pump. If the pump runs when you power it directly, and the car starts and runs, then it's either the fuse is blown or the relay is faulty.

I checked the pump by removing it and hooking it up to a 12 v power supply and it worked fine. So I reinstalled it and then pulled the hose off of the fuel rail and tested it again to be sure fuel was flowing to the rail. It also tested fine. So, I dont believe a relay would be the problem, although I am no expert. I apoligize if I sound sarcastic, that isnt my intention. my frustration is mounting daily. could it be the CCM, not opening the fuel injectors?

could it be the injectors not opening due to the brain box? CCM?
