My car overheats while standing. When I am driving at full speed, everything is ok but when I stop at the light or when I am in stop and go traffic it overheats.

I have also noticed that my heater is not working.

The over heating issue can be caused by the fan clutch not engaging. The heater issue can be caused by the heater valve.

These problems could be related. Possibly check for clogged passageways in radiator & heater core. Other possibilities include clogged/or broken shut thermostat. First check for circulation of coolant in warmed engine, this determines the status of open/closed thermostat. Second check for sediment in bottom of radiator. This would be most prevalent in clogged radiator/heater core. If someone ever used a stop leak in the radiator, it can clog passageways.
Good Luck.
