Electrical problem
2001 BMW 330 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 65000 miles

locking system is complicated. For trunk to open with trunk lid latch, both car doors and glove box required to be unlocked. With both unlocked, lid should open with interior latch or with exterior trunk latch. Lid does not open with hand latch. Opens mechanically with interior button (left side of drivers knee) and with electric key function, but not with trunk mounted exterior hand latch.
i've removed trunk lid cover to expose all wiring and connections. All appear good.
all fuses good. I've repaired applicable wires (that were broken) in trunk wiring harness. That worked for awhile then exterior hand latch function stopped working. All connections inside trunk lid check normal.
am I missing a micro switch that has gone south?

Good notes on what you have done so far. There is a microswitch PN 51-13-8-185-792 and it can be had from Realoem. Com. There is also a good exploded view to refer to.

Thanks,

Be sure you have inspected the wiring that goes from the trunk lid to the body, those wires often break and I just wanted to be sure we covered that.

Thanks. I had actually done that about six months ago. I reinspected the wiring again first, hoping it would be simple. Don't I wish!
Thanks again.
