All of a sudden, when trying to start--it's turning over but just won't start. I will have to check the battery. Could it be the spark plugs or starter? Or is there anything else it could be?

Could be fuel pump, they fail in those cars at about that mileage, try spraying brake clean in the intake, if it starts and runs on the brake clean then you have a bad fuel pump. It is on the passenger side beneath the rear seat.
