I have a 1994 325I convertible, when I turn off the key the engine keeps going. When I pop the clutch to kill the engine there are still things using power. Checked it out & two main wires are still hot. The lights for the mileage part of the dash work. The accessories, like the radio do not.

Was the radio/alarm involved, was it an aftermarket system?

It sounds like the ignition lock inside the steering column is broken and is not shutting the electrical portion of the lock go all the way to shut the car down. The steering column will need to be removed and it will require some special tools. Do you have the tools and ability?

My son has done some work on the car, so he may be able to handle this.
