1987 BMW 325 ignition will not turn over

I just got this car and I have drove it twice. I cut the engine off and when I went to start it back up the steering wheel was locked and the ignition will not turn over. Is there anything you can tell me to do. Thanks

From your description it sounds like the ignition switch and perhaps the key are worn, have you got more than one key? Try "jiggling" the key as well. Also try turning the steering wheel a bit one way then the other while you turn the key, sometimes the steering column lock holds things up. Let me know and good luck.
