BMW 323 Noise Problem

1999 BMW 323 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 118,00 miles
Hi there! Unsure of engine size or wheel drives, but . . . when engine is cold, low wining noise from under the hood. Sounded like power steering noise, but continues to make noise at full stop. Wines higher at higher rev. Then stops for duration of travel. WIll start again after sitting for several hours. Any ideas? Thanks! Donna

The issue is the deflection pulley and/or the tensioner assembly/pulley. Go to Realoem.com and look for the part description in the 11 section.
