2004 BMW 318 Side of Engine has broken
Engine Mechanical problem
2004 BMW 318 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 47000 miles
Does any mechanic know what was going with my Engine. I just started my car and only ran 500M ,suddenly I heard a cracked sound from engine. and I found out engine oil was linking everywhere. the side of engine has been bursted. please have a look image.(I took this photo from bottom of the car). Does anyone know what is the reason to cause this problem. how much does it cost to fix it. Much appreciated.

Hi there,
Sorry to say but it looks as if the engine as broken a connecting rod or a small end bearing cap, the cause is a bit hard to identify with out detailed investigations, basically the engine is destroyed, there is no way that this type of damage can be repaired, you will have to get the engine replaced.
