I have a BMW 318is coupe. Recently the car has been running very 'sluggish' & has little power when accelerating. Also, it has been surging as if it's going to stall & sometimes does, even though it's an automatic. This happens about once a week & usually when I have about a quarter of a tank left. The surging is only apparent when slowing down & coming to a stop. I have to keep the revs up to stop it from stalling completely. It has been looked at by a few mechanics, but can't figure out what it is.
Have tried using premium fuel (expensive!) & have cleaned the fuel tank & lines.

At that mileage the fuel pump is suspect. They still work but there is a problem with them producing enough pressure and volume of fuel to make the engine happy. A pump pressure and delivery test is in order. If it is the pump, go to " realoem.com " for the replacement pump.
