Engine Performance problem
1985 BMW 318 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual? Miles

I wish someone could tell me why whenever I start my BMW it will start and idle but when I get it up to about 3000rpm's it just dies. I have replaced the sensors, thermostat, checked oil coolant, belts replaced both fuel filters and I still don't know what the problem is.

A 1985 318 can be difficult to work on in as much as the parts that MIGHT need replacement (air flow meter, wiring harness, DME, TPS, various hoses and lines) can often exceed the actual value of the car. If you have a large investment in this vehicle, I am sympathetic and willing to attempt to assist you. You reported replacement of both fuel filters, I was not aware of the presence or two fuel filters on that car. You replaced some sensors, which would you be referring to? Have you replaced the pick-up coil inside the distributor? Let me know, regards, Dr. Hagerty. Ã â Â
