Hi,

It sounds like the actuator itself is going bad. There is a small electric motor that moves plastic gears to lock or unlock the door. It sounds like they may have broken or stripped.

If you can tell which door is making the noise, that will be the target.

The actuator is part of the latch assembly in the door. When you open the door, note where the door latch mounts to the door. There will be 3 screws holding it to the door.

First, you will need to remove the interior door panel. Then remove the three (Torx) screws holding the latch assembly to the door. There will be two steel lines that need to be disconnected and an electrical connector that needs to be disconnected to fully remove the assembly.

The installation is the reverse of removal.

I found a picture of one online and attached it below, so you know what you are looking for. Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
