1999 Audi A4 Engine light

My engine light came on and I drove the car for about a week. Since I had the timing belt changed, I assumed it not to be anything more then a service check. However, the car started to sputter or pull when giving gas.

There is a problem computer has picked up a fault. Go to an Auto Zone or similar have codes read the post in P0xxx format. Will advise

Will an OBD2 scanner detect the codes or problem or do I need to take it and have someone at auto zone try? THX

Drive up tell them you have ligt on they will scan tell you what code. You post and I will tell you what's up.
