Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Audi A4 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Manual 91, xxx miles

Well I sold a 1996 audi a4 2.8 quattro. I never had problems with the car except for a leak of the coolant reservoir. I sold the car and unfortunately they tried to change out the coolant reservoir and let all the coolant drain out. They then drove the car until it pegged the temperature gauge. I went to help them diagnose the car and when it would not take coolant and they told me that it had pegged the temp gauge I new it had a blown head gasket.
Here is where my question comes in. They took the car to their mechanic and he said it had prior issues and that I sold the car with bad heads. He is apparently testifying to that. I'm not new to vehicles and I know my way around. This guy said the engine had to be reomved to replace the head gaskets, but I know better. Is there really anyway for him to say that the head gaskets were blown when I sold the car? I know there is no time stamp or anything but I'm just trying to make sure that I have my ducks in a row as this whole court appearance is quite nerve racking. Thanks for your time

As a mechanic there is no way to tell when a head gasket blows. You need to remember there part in this they replaced the coolant reservoir and must not have gotten the system full so this should be on them not you. I am sorry you are having these problems but you did have them sign a bill of sale that stated there was no warranty and car was sold as is? Hope this helps. Thanks.
