Hope someone can give me some idea if this is something to be worried about
The car seems to be running fine, not losing acceleration or anything but

Sounds like someone dragging a chain across ametal plate. Happens when accelerating, just at certain frequency of vibration.

It happens in each gear about half way between gear changes, louder if accelerating uphill.

Please, any ideas anyone?

Mmmh Thanks for that but I am a total 'know nothing' about cars and I don't even know what a CV joint is.
If it is that do I need to get it to a garage urgently or will it wait?
