I got a 99 sc2, well it kicks when you hit about 50 mph, I have been told it was the o2 sensor. Replaced it. Thought it was the spark plugs. Replaced it. Replaced the battery. Replaced the Serpentine belt along with tensioner. I Do not have a clue what is going on. Engine sounds great and idles fine. Before I replaced anything I drove to an auto parts store to get a free diagnostic done on it, code "P0420 Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold" so any clues?

Catylitic converter,
wait ten minutes after your car is off and see if your converter is hotter than your exhaust manifold.
Beware though, these items get hot.
If your catylitic converter is hotter than the exhaust manifold then its to clogged and needs to be replaced.

Does your car hard start sometimes?

Just some thoughts on what it could be, I myself cant be sure

Make sure your plug wires are run properly. It is easy to mix up and the engine will idle if they are crossed.

Good luck and let us know. :)

Took it down today, got a new fuel filter put in it, had the map sensor replaced, put new spark plug wires in on Monday, tested the catalytic converter, passed diagnostic passed when idle, then when it was being driven, the computer read a code dealing with the catalyst. Called saturn and they said it was something called "valve body". Still trying to figure this out, the car that I totaled that has a great engine and is still in the front yard will probably be torn apart on a search for this missing link!

They did not tell me the code, but as I put pressure on the gas and hit around 50, it still does it, and still sometimes kicks off. When in reverse, thought it could have been the tps throttle position sensor.I doubt that, going by a automotive book from advance.
