323i overheating no heat

I get no heat at all, the engine overheats, and the light gauge comes on to red
i dont know if its the thermostat or the water pump please help. The belts are new.

Check the belt that drives the water pump, a loose belt will make it so it does not circulate enough causing little heat and the engine overheating

If you have no heat that means no engine coolant is making it into the heater core. That means either no coolant is being pumped or your coolant is very low or leaking. Better check that your radiator is full to rule out the leak.
