I have a 2002 SL1 with 35,000 miles on it and my backup lights quit working all of a sudden. I have checked the fuse and both bulbs. Do you have any ideas. I can not find any relays and I am having trouble finding contact for a switch.

Have you checked the back up switch?

After a thorough search I believe I have found it on the side of the transmission casing. It looks like it just unscrews. Is there any precautions when removing so the reinstall is made easier. Upon furter investigation I have been able to get the lights to come on if I hold the stick shift against fully to the right of the stop. Again thanks for the help.

Pretty straight forward R&R. Check for corrosion. Check the shift cables for wear. The end bushings will wear over time and mileage and cause excess play.
