2002 Questions for all other cars Engine juggers

wondering if you could help, not all the time but sometimes when i change gear and excelerate my cars feels like its jumping a little as if its running low on petrol? When i go around a corner its like the car needs to be in a lower gear, although im going fast enough for it to be in the gear i have it in....? do you have anyidea what this is? Thank you
