I got a 2001 4.3L 4x4 S-10 and the electric air pump went out on it causing my check engine light to come on.... I took it to the dealership to get it fixed under my extended warrenty and the air pump isn't covered... go figure... so I figured who needs an air pump. well since then the back up of exhaust coming through rubber lines to the air pump have melted my wiring harness, 2000 miles after my warrenty ran out.... go figure again. So I pluged all the lines at the manifold now and have repaired the harness but still can't figure a way to keep the engine light out. I live in Fl and don't need to pass a smog test so I can't see spending the $300.00 to buy a new air pump but would like to get my check engine light to go out. Is there a way to by pass the air pump to make the computer think it is working properly and let my check engine light stay out for good. Or am I gonna have to spend the money and fix it right? I know some models don't even have the air pump on them
