I have a v12 engine 1999 s600 and at the front center of the engine under a Mercedes plastic cape I found a reservoir. I don’t know what goes in it and it is empty is it power steering or transmission fluid? Can someone give me a clue since I can’t find it in the manual.? ?

This is more than likely your power steering reservior. If you have ABC suspension however you may be looking at the ABC reservior.

It is the reservoir for your power steering fluid, all V12 WDB140 have the same configuration when it comes to location of ATF reservoir. If it is empty then fill with proper grade ATF dexron III and purge if your reservoir has dried out, question: did you check if there was leaks either on the hose line or on the pump and maybe on the steering box? It is not normal to have an empty resevoir.
