1998 F-150 Stalling

Hello,

I have a question about a stalling concern. I am living in northern Ontario and have no access to a dealer or mechanic for that matter. I have an f-150 v8 that runs fine at idle, but any throttle aplication and the engine bogs or sometimes even stalls. The engine light is not on at this time (not that I would be able to check it). I am looking for some sort of help on this issue if you have any ideas.

Thanks

Do you know anyone that has an OBD2 reader?

If so, that is the first thing to plug into the truck and get a reading on the error codes (perhaps that might be a good investment since you live far away from dealers) review, although seems like a bad/clogged Fuel Filter or poor fuel quality (use octane booster & see if improves at all) would be first thing to check. Also, perhaps trash in the actual Gas Tank / lines / replace. Also, lube any throttle linkages / cables as perhaps sticking?

Also Fuel Pump or sending unit(s). You can research on the INTERNET or purchase a Chilton Manual for this specific c truck. The manual # 26666 from Chilton's covers 1997-2000 F-Series & SUV's

The on board computer (if installed) is also a possible (expensive) issue, but that would require a dealer inspection.

How old is the vehicle?
Obd2 reader only works on 94 and newer models (princess auto sells them also canadian tire)
Sounds like it is trying to get fuel which could be a number of things including low pump pressure and dirty gas filter, water in gas etc
